GLARE OF ROCKETS TONIGHT AT KNITTING FACTORY IN HOLLYWOOD WITH PEACHCAKE, MC LARS AND GET BACK LORETTA.

glare_jscott2

We always try to keep a close eye on bands in our hometown that are full of talent and building a buzz. Glare of Rockets is just that band. They are fronted by 16 year old Mariah McManus, whose vocal abilities far surpass what is to be expected from someone her age. Glare has the ability to capture your heart after just one listen - whether at their live show or just checking out their tracks on their myspace page (myspace.com/glareofrockets)

Glare plays tonight in hollywood with Peachcake, MC Lars and Get Back Loretta. Their set time is at 8pm sharp, so don't be late. Glare puts on an amazing show and will not disappoint.

You Should Know.....Leah Hayes

Leah Hayes is a writer, illustrator, graphic designer, and oh yeah she fronts a really great band called Scary Mansion.

She's written two amazing graphic novels called Funeral of the Heart, and Holy Moly.

Funeral of the Heart was all created on scratchboard. Remember those black-coated boards with the white underneath that you used in art class? I personally remember a rather tragic tiger that needed eyelashes after I slipped with the pointy-scraper-thing. You know what I'm talking about. Obviously with scratchboard, revision is not possible.

And oh yes, she's quite funny.

Scary Mansion has a record out - Every Joke is a Half Truth. Buy it from emusic. It's the perfect music for a lonely January.

ACT - Rosa Loves

Look good, feel good.

Rosa Loves shares PlaysWell's vision that we must act locally to help in our community. RosaLoves picks specific people to help with their t-shirts. 60% of the cost of every t-shirt goes DIRECTLY into the hands of the person/organization that you picked.

Rosa Loves says:
" Everyone has a story. Everyone has a need. By using art and creativity, we hope to foster hope and encouragement through the aid of apparel. Each story will be told through stimulating graphics and actual text that will appear on the inverse of the shirt directly in line with the heart, where the Rosa Loves movement stems from."

Here's how it works:

1. Go to Rosa Loves.
2. Pick a story that moves you.
3. Buy a t-shirt
4. Wear it and feel good, raise awareness, and look awesome.

Pretty easy, huh?

ACT Tuesday - Pablove

Pablove is a non-profit organization founded by the president of Dangerbird Records and his wife when their son was diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer. Pablove Foundation gives money to the Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles. CHLA provides outstanding care to children regardless of the family's ability to pay.

If you're local to LA, you've probably driven past CHLA a million times. It's at the intersection of Sunset and Vermont. Please help Pablove help children fight back against the devastation of cancer.

PlaysWell has featured Pablove, and their really AMAZING compilation cd before. You can find all the info right here
